Hi, I'm Kim (She/Her)!
Filtering Light Counseling LLC welcomes you!
I help adolescents, young adults, and adults uncover their potential, so that they can live the life they were meant to live - instead of a life they're expected to live.
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor, located in SE Portland, Oregon. I am happy to announce I am now fully offering in-person support at my ecotherapy site with a Geodesic Dome office!
I'm passionate about helping you realize your inherent value and understand your experiences, with the primary goal to learn skills to launch this value into your daily life.
This practice welcomes BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, the spectrum of abilities, and other marginalized individuals, by valuing diverse lived experiences, honoring the clientβs wisdom, and myself having personal accountability to actively engaging in my own anti-racism, anti-ableism, and anti-discriminatory education/work.
In our sessions, you'll find that I approach therapy with a balance of fun and depth. I love to incorporate ecotherapy and mindfulness, while also focusing on active skill building (such as DBT skills, social skills), and recovering from history of trauma. We will explore anxiety, depression, and other dysregulating thoughts, to see why they are occurring and what actions you can take to make your life feel fulfilled. With curiosity, we will identify how you process emotions and your perceptions, and with that information create plans of how to move forward with awareness, confidence, and skill.
Lets have those real, raw, vulnerable, conversations that you might have difficulty bringing to friends or family.
Individual Clients or Group members that align with my specialty: are those recently starting to identify or explore neurodiversity and are figuring out how neurodivergence explains their past while also looking to repair and improve their future, are parents who have a neurodivergent child/teen/young adult and seeking support as parents or for their child, or individuals who are looking to individualize therapeutic skills and navigate complex expressions of emotions and relational experiences. I also specialize in supporting suicidal ideation, which often can result from exhaustion with trying to fit into a neurotypical system and difficulty navigating self without understanding neurodivergence.
We all lose track of our inner light sometimes, and I believe it is honorable to ask for help in finding your way back to yours.
